AI Summit: French President Emmanuel Macron started his speech at the India AI Impact Summit with a loving “Namaste”. After this he gave a big speech in which he praised India’s digital journey and outlined a vision for responsible Artificial Intelligence.
During this, Macron also talked about social media and stressed the need to protect children from digital abuse. “Children should not be exposed to things online that are prohibited in the real world,” she said. He announced France’s new social media ban for children under 15 years of age and appealed to India to join this movement.
Pointing towards PM Modi, French President Macron said, “I know, Honorable Prime Minister, you will also join this initiative. It will be very good news that India will also join such a step for the safety of children and adolescents. The safety of children is not just about making rules, but a question of civilization.”
Let us tell you that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes this statement of Macron seriously, then soon social media accounts for children below 15 years of age may be banned in India.
The French president highlighted India’s UPI payments system, which now processes 20 billion transactions every month, and described it as a “civilizational story”. He stressed that India, France and Europe should work together, and present Europe as a place of innovation and security. He also pointed out that India now has the second largest developer community in the world, and AI is creating new jobs, reducing the fear of job losses.
