India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on an official visit to Luxembourg these days. Amidst the ongoing tension in many countries of the world, Jaishankar’s six-day visit to Luxembourg is considered very important. This visit is expected to further strengthen the relations between India and Europe. During a dialogue on the second day of the visit, he candidly discussed the Venezuela crisis, India’s growing global credibility and the double standards of some countries in international affairs.

S Jaishankar said that the world’s trust in India stems from many years of experience and did not arise suddenly. Giving the example of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said, “When the Covid pandemic came, almost all our neighboring countries got the first vaccine from India. India also came to the forefront to help in disasters like cyclone in Sri Lanka, earthquake in Myanmar and Afghanistan.

The country will do only that which will directly benefit – Jaishankar

At the same time, strongly criticizing the double standards of some countries in international affairs, Jaishankar said, in today’s time, countries will do only what will directly benefit them. They will give you free advice. If something happens, they will say, please don’t do this. If there is stress we feel anxious. Sometimes you hear people saying this, as was the case during Operation Sindoor. ,

The world doesn’t do what it says – Jaishankar

S Jaishankar further said now, “If you ask them, really, you are concerned, then why don’t you look at your own area and ask yourself what is the level of violence there, how much risk has been taken, how concerned are the rest of us about what you are doing? But that is the nature of the world. People do not do what they say. We have to accept it in that spirit.”

What did Jaishankar say on Venezuela crisis?

Responding to a question on US action on Venezuela, S Jaishankar said, “I think we issued a statement yesterday, so I would urge you to look at that. We are concerned about the developments, but we would urge all parties involved to sit down now and arrive at a position that is in the interest of the well-being and security of the Venezuelan people because ultimately our concern is that we want to see Venezuela as a country with which we have had a good relationship for many years.” There have been very good relations. We want people to come out safely whatever the direction of events.”

During the visit, Jaishankar also met Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, where cooperation in areas such as finance, investment, fintech, AI and space was discussed. The minister expressed hope of strengthening India-EU relations in 2026.
