When its photos and videos went viral on social media, the company (Pizza Hut) also took notice of it. After this the company issued a clarification calling it fake. The grand inauguration of a gleaming ‘Pizza Hut’ outlet took place in Sialkot Cantonment on Tuesday. As the chief guest, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif cut the ribbon, received flower garlands and posed for photographs. There was applause at the event and the local people were excited that now international level pizza will be available in their city too. But a twist came just hours after the inauguration.
Pizza Hut made a statement and told the truth
Pizza Hut Pakistan issued an official statement and clarified that this outlet opened in Sialkot Cantt is completely unauthorized and fake. The company said, “This outlet is misusing the Pizza Hut name and branding. It is not following our original recipes, quality standards, food safety or operational standards. We have lodged a complaint against it with the relevant authorities and have initiated legal action.”
Flood of memes on social media
While giving information, the company also said that they have only 16 original outlets in Pakistan, out of which 14 are in Lahore and 2 in Islamabad. Sialkot outlet is not included in these. After this statement, Khwaja Asif is being trolled fiercely on social media. Users have created a flood of memes. One user wrote, ‘The ribbon was cut and the statement burst – this is a new record!’ Another taunted, ‘The Defense Minister could not save his own ‘pizza security’.’ Many comments said, ‘The country is in dire need of verification everywhere. Be it national security or pizza security.”
