Bangladesh Violence: The fire of fundamentalism has once again destroyed Bangladesh. The mob of fundamentalists burnt many cities including Dhaka to ashes, but the most shocking incident is the atrocities on Hindus. A Hindu youth was brutally lynched and killed in Dhaka. Deepu Chandra was first beaten to death in the middle of the city, then the fundamentalists gave gruesome punishment to the Hindu boy like Sharia law. Deepu Chandra was hanged naked at the intersection and his body was poured with petrol and set on fire.
Fundamentalists openly burnt humanity in Bangladesh. Thousands of radicals were watching and recording this gruesome scene. The crowd was raising religious slogans while lighting the lamp of Chandra. Large-scale protests and violence have erupted across the country after the death of Sharif Usman Hadi, a prominent leader of the July 2024 student movement in Bangladesh and spokesperson of Inquilab Manch. The surprising thing is that Yunus is silent on the massacre of Hindus, Yunus did not take any action against the fundamentalists who were creating havoc.
The attack was an organized conspiracy
Sharif Usman Hadi was shot by masked attackers in Dhaka on December 12, after which he was airlifted to Singapore in a critical condition. He died during treatment there on 18 December. The incident has plunged Bangladesh into chaos, especially ahead of elections scheduled to be held in February 2026. According to Bangladeshi investigating agencies, the attack on Hadi was part of a larger organized conspiracy.
‘The whole of Bangladesh will be shaken…’
Faisal Karim, the main accused of shooting Hadi, is absconding. The night before the attack, Faisal Karim had met his girlfriend Maria Akhtar Lima. He said that “something is going to happen that will shake the whole of Bangladesh.” Investigators believe that this statement points towards a larger conspiracy.
According to police, at least 20 people were involved in the attack, which included funding, arrangement of weapons, planning of the attack and escape. A former counselor is considered to be the mastermind of this conspiracy. The bike used in the attack had a fake number plate, which was later changed so that evidence could be destroyed. Weapons, bullets, magazines and checks worth crores of taka have been recovered in the raid.
Arrests of 9 people
More than 9 people have been arrested so far in the joint action of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police. These include Faisal Karim’s wife Saheda Parveen Samia, girlfriend Maria Akhtar Lima, brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu, close associate and bike owner. However, the main shooter Faisal Karim and his associates are still absconding.
Violence after Hadi’s death
As soon as the news of Hadi’s death spread, violence broke out in many cities including Dhaka. The protesters set fire to and vandalized the offices of media houses Prothom Alo and Daily Star. Cultural centers and the residence of Bangladesh’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were also targeted. A Hindu youth was beaten to death on charges of blasphemy and his body was burnt.
Hadi was the leader of the July 2024 movement, which was against the Sheikh Hasina government. He was also known for anti-India statements. His death has further escalated political tensions, and raised concerns about stability in the country. This incident is a big challenge for the interim government of Bangladesh, because elections are near.
