Beit Shemesh, a town west of Jerusalem on the way to Jaffa, was hit by an Iranian missile this morning. Several buildings were damaged and one building completely collapsed.
Let us tell you that at least nine Israelis have now been killed in this attack. Rescue workers are searching for living people under the debris. In such a situation, the biggest question is how did Israel’s Iron Dome fail once again in the face of Iranian attack?
Why did the air defense systems fail at Beit Shemesh?
According to reports, sirens did not sound before the attack. Israeli military and officials have said they will investigate why the air defense systems at Beit Shemesh failed. This has once again made it clear that Israel’s multilayered air defense system is not foolproof and cannot stop every missile launched towards Israeli cities. This was seen earlier in Tel Aviv and other cities during rising tensions, and also in June, when Israel launched its last round of attacks against Iran.
Iran has once again shown to the world that it can launch ballistic and other types of missiles capable of attacking the center of Israeli cities, causing considerable damage not only to buildings but also to lives. Let us tell you that this power of Iran has affected the image of the Israeli government, which it was trying to build.
Beit Shemesh is an Israeli town in the Jerusalem District. It is a residential and commercial area, where many families live. The city is about 30 kilometers west of Jerusalem and is connected to nearby cities and the capital by major highways. It has schools, hospitals and public services, making it an important urban area in central Israel.
